What should I expect?
Online learning is convenient and provides opportunities for teachers to learn and practice valuable technology integration skills on their own time frame. Each course will have a learning objective that will help teacher participants increase their technology knowledge in a specific area and impact professional practice. Salt Lake City School District has developed an Online Course Policy that contains helpful information about online expectations. How is the course delivered? We use the learning management system (LMS), Canvas, to deliver instruction, assignments, discussions, and all information that will be needed for the course. Once you register for the course in OnTrack, your instructor will provide you with information about how to register for a free Canvas account. What skills do I need to succeed? What technology will I need? You will need access to a computer at home that has internet access. Will I miss the synergy of face-to-face technology classes? Most of our online courses have discussion questions where participants share ideas and discuss what they are learning. Online courses still provide the opportunity to be part of a community of learners. Be sure and set up your User Profile in Canvas so that other can get to know you better. How much time does it take? Plan to spend about an hour per week in completing assignments and responding to discussion questions. What is netiquette?
